'THEBYE' AND 'WEAVERS COTTAGE' CHURCH STREET

THESE TRADITIONAL BRICK AND FLINT COTTAGES ARE THOUGHT TO BE AT LEAST 250 YEARS OLD ALTHOUGH THERE ARE MANY OLDER BRICKS IN THE STRUCUTRE. THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT THE ROOFS WERE ONCE THATCHED.
'WEAVERS COTTAGE', NOW A PRETTY LITTLE BEAMED PROPERTY, WAS PROBABLY A SMALL BARN ADJOINING THE MAIN HOUSE KNOWN AS 'THE BYE'.
AT SOME TIME DURING THEIR LONG HISTORY BOTH COTTAGES HOUSED FARM WORKERS AND IN 1917 IT IS KNOWN THAT THREE FAMILIES LIVED IN 'THE BYE' AND TWO IN 'WEAVERS COTTAGE'.
